Mrs. Varalakshmi Grandhi is the spouse of Sri Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao - Group Chairman of GMR Group.
She has been instrumental in setting up of the GMR Varalakshmi Foundation – the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group which aims for development of social infrastructure and enhance quality of life of communities, focusing broadly on education, health, hygiene, sanitation, empowerment, livelihood, and community development. She is a Director on the Board of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation. She is a promoter of Parampara Family Business Institute promoter of Parampara Family Business Institute, a non-profit platform under GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), an Education and Research platform that enables family businesses to sustain, grow and perpetuate through generations. She is also a director in other GMR Group Companies, i.e., GMR Chennai Outer Ring Road Private Limited and Sri Varalakshmi Jute Twine Mills Private Limited.
A deeply religious and spiritual human being, Mrs. Varalakshmi has donated substantially through the group’s CSR arm, GMRVF to the underprivileged, particularly wherever GMR Group has its presence. She has been a pillar of strength to her family and in structuring the family constitution. She was the Chairman of the Family Council, the apex Policy Framing body of the Family and is one of the chief architects of the design of Family Constitution, the one-of-its-kind in the Indian Family Business history.
