Kiran Kumar Grandhi is the Corporate Chairman of GMR Group and serves as a Group Director on the Company’s Board. A Commerce graduate and member of the promoter family, he has been on the Board since 1999 and has played a key role in shaping the Group’s strategy across airports, highways, finance and sports.
Over the past two decades, Mr. Grandhi has been instrumental in securing several landmark infrastructure projects under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) framework with Central and State Governments. He led GMR’s successful bids for marquee airport projects including Hyderabad, Delhi, Istanbul and Malé, as well as the construction effort that delivered Terminal 3 at Delhi International Airport within a record timeframe. These projects have been central to establishing GMR as a leading global airport developer.
In his earlier role as Chairman-Urban Infrastructure & Highways, he managed a portfolio of approximately 1,200 kilometres of highways across 10 projects. Under his leadership, the highways and urban infrastructure businesses expanded GMR’s presence in surface transport and laid the foundation for integrated corridor‑based development. His work combined bid strategy, stakeholder engagement and disciplined project execution across several Indian states.
Mr. Grandhi has also been a driving force behind GMR's entry into the sports sector. He led the Group’s foray into franchise cricket through the acquisition and management of the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) IPL franchise, helping to build one of the league’s most recognisable brands. This initiative expanded the Group’s presence into sports and consumer engagement, complementing its broader infrastructure and entertainment ecosystem.
Currently, he oversees Group Finance and Corporate Strategic Planning functions for GMR, providing direction on capital allocation, portfolio optimisation and long‑term growth priorities. In addition, he leads the Sports business of the Group, guiding its expansion across leagues, geographies and fan communities.
Across his responsibilities, Mr. Grandhi brings together strategic foresight, bid and deal‑making expertise, and a strong focus on execution. His work reflects GMR’s commitment to building world‑class infrastructure businesses while continuously evolving the Group’s portfolio in line with emerging opportunities in India and abroad.
